I have been to Kohl’s a few times, and I have to say that I am not a big fan. I think of it like a Penney’s or a Sears, a place one doesn’t visit unless absolutely desperate to shop and there is nothing better around. I have had some successes with the kid’s sleepwear, mainly because it is super promotional and you can get your daughter’s princess nightgown fix for around $12 a pop. However, I have a much more difficult time finding anything I would purchase for myself. I am speaking about fashion purchases, that is. I can, of course, always find a reason to purchase cosmetics in Kohl’s because their American Beauty line is absolutely terrific. American Beauty and Flirt! (both available in all Kohl’s stores) are actually sub-Estee Lauder brands, meaning all of the technology and savvy that informs the department store business is also at work here. And it shows. The American Beauty lipsticks are rich and long-wearing, and they come in beautiful, natural colors. I have tried a few and most recently picked up Georgia Peach as a fresh summer shade. It is a warm peachy/pinky/orange and while this may sound odd, it is a lovely color. I highly recommend this for almost any skin tone as it is warm enough to look good on the palest of skin.

There is something about black eyeliner that just looks good- day and night. No matter what else is going on with your makeup that day (even if it is somewhat nonexistent) a great, long-wearing black liner is really all you need. I have been relatively loyal to Revlon’s Colorstay Waterproof liner, mainly because it is smooth enough to line the inner rims of my eyes and it lasts all day. I alternate between brown for workdays and black for nights out. I have tried loads of other brands, but Revlon does make an amazing standby. Of course, not to simply settle into a makeup groove, I recently purchased a new liner from L’Oreal called Extra Intense Liquid Pencil. This product is amazing! It literally glides on like a liquid- solid, clean lines with no smudges, but it looks and operates like a pencil. The black is deep and patent looking, and it lasted all day without smudging or bleeding. I am promptly getting this in brown and gray!
